Boxboro Systems installed a DTMS™ unit on the Sandia National Laboratories CX test blade at the NREL blade loading test stand in Colorado. The DTMS successfully provided flapwise, edgewise, and twist data for the complete test series, from 25% load through 120% blade failure load. The DTMS provided data unavailable from conventional NREL instrumentation.

The flapwise deflection data compared favorably to the NREL string potentiometer deflection data. In addition, the DTMS frequency response was fast enough to show the same vibration frequencies present in the load cell and strain gage data collected by NREL.
